A very good value hostel near Central Park and the subway station.
If Jazz On The Park is fully booked, you'll have to go to this address, three blocks away, on the edge of Central Park. This hostel was completely refurbished in 2012 and now only offers stays of at least 30 days. No large dormitories, but double or single rooms. All rooms have refrigerators and televisions. Although renovated, the rooms are not always very clean. The staff are as pleasant as ever, and will help you if you have any problems. There's a common room with games and table tennis. The subway station (1,2,3, B, C) is very close, making it easy to get to all parts of New York. Good value for money.
