Koos Van Den Akker has dressed Sidney Poitier, actress Cecilia Tyson, Alfre Woodard and Jessye Norman, as well as Bing Crosby, Elizabeth Taylor, Madonna, Cher, Ringo Starr, Marilyn Horne, the Kennedys and Magic Johnson. An independent fashion designer of Dutch origin, Koos meticulously chooses precious materials that he combines with bright colors. But his preference is for gaudy fabrics, with which he creates sensual, sparkling garments that are always unique: coats, jackets ($800), evening gowns ($1,200 to $3,000), ensembles ($900 to $1,800). Each of his minicollections is a sumptuous variation on the art of cut and the perfection of detail.
