BROOKE ALEXANDER
In 1968, Brooke Alexander Inc. opened its first space dedicated to the publication and sale of American prints. From 1975 to 1985, in a gallery opening on 57th Street, Brooke Alexander exhibited painters and sculptors such as Yvonne Jacquette, Sylvie Plimack Mangold and Richard Haas, as well as younger artists: John Ahearn, Richard Bosman, Tom Otterness, Richard Tobias..
Since 1985, the gallery has moved to SoHo and expanded, introducing newcomers such as Louisa Chase, Allan McCollum, Matt Mullican, Markus Raetz, Richard Tuttle and Robin Winters. More recently, works by Doug Aitken, Chapman Brothers, Jorge Pardo, Richard Tuttle, Karra Walter... In 1989, Brooke Alexander Editions opened a new space at 476 Broome Street, featuring publications by Richard Artschwager, John Baldessari, Richard Bosman..georg Herold's multiples, Donald Judd's and Robert Mangold's woodcuts, Robert Longo's lithographs, Bruce Nauman's etchings or the etched works of Jasper Johns, James Rosenquist, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol... Since 1990, the company has been exhibiting politically and socially oriented contemporary artists, including Leon Golub, Annette Lemieux and Annette Messager, Chris Burden, Nancy Dwyer, Alexis Smith, Nancy Spero..
