B.B. KING BLUES GRILL AND CLUB
It was the headquarters of B.B. King, the king of the blues, who sometimes performed here. This cool, retro venue offers an excellent blues and jazz program. So, yes, the place is now mostly frequented by tourists - mostly Americans, by the way - but it would be a shame to miss out on the incredible musicians who perform on the BB King Blues stage.
Admission varies from US$20 to US$40, depending on the performance. If you'd like to sit at a table, you'll pay an extra US$10. Otherwise it's at the bar, when there's room. There's a concert every evening, often with two performances, usually at 8pm and 11pm. There's a restaurant, but the menu isn't top-notch. Come here instead for a drink and the music. The club is located in the basement and comprises two rooms: one exclusively for the restaurant, with hundreds of black-and-white photos of blues and jazz greats, and a bar with a photo of the owner. In the second room, also very large, is the stage for the concerts.
