GASLIGHT LOUNGE
In the Meatpacking district, this large building at the crossroads of 14th Street looks empty. The Gaslight Lounge is actually inside, but curtains have been installed to preserve the privacy of this refuge. It's hard to go unnoticed when you enter, as the clientele tends to be made up of regulars, all seated at the counter. The Gaslight Lounge has the look of an old haunted house, with its mismatched antique furniture, red lighting, parquet flooring covered with large rugs, a fireplace at the back of the room and old family portraits hanging on the walls. Music-wise, the style depends on the DJ's mood. If you're looking for him, he's perched in a tiny mezzanine high above the bar. From time to time, a band comes along to liven up the evening. As a result, the atmosphere and clientele can be completely different from one evening to the next. In summer, they open the blinds and you can drink on the terrace, watching the beautiful people at your leisure.
