MAX FISH
It's one of the Lower East Side's first bars, and its success hasn't waned despite growing competition. It should perhaps be pointed out, however, that this bar can in no way be equated with the lounges that are opening everywhere. It has kept its soul as a neighborhood bar, attracting a clientele of outsiders and cool students rather than top models. Here you're in one of those dive bars, where drinks are inexpensive. Just drop in for a beer, and take the opportunity to improve your score on the video games located at the entrance, or to play a game of pool. These games attract a fairly young clientele, but the regulars and the local artists who exhibit their work on the bar's walls correct the average age. The Max Fish jukebox is said to be the best in town. A concert is held here on the first Sunday of every month, and on other Sundays, a film is sometimes shown around 10pm. The atmosphere is unusual and pretty great.
