Larcelia Kebe, behind the tour, leads guided tours highlighting the cultural, architectural, musical, social and culinary aspects of Harlem. Her walking tours take place every Sunday from 10am. We're welcomed around 10 a.m. with a cup of coffee for a short briefing on Harlem. Then, after visiting the tour leader's home, we head for a gospel church. Strangely enough, we're placed on the second floor with the tourists, while on the first floor the black people are seated. This way, they are not disturbed, but the staging effect is amplified.
It's not an unforgettable tour, but the gospel church is well worth a visit. Perhaps you can go straight to the church. Harlem is by no means dangerous, with police on every corner.
