Beautiful Upper West Side building with towers, large windows and large apartments separated by walls.
One of the most beautiful buildings on the Upper West Side, with its towers, bay windows and large apartments separated by walls so thick that many singers and composers chose to live here to work at ease. The memory of Enrico Caruso, Igor Stravinsky, Arturo Toscanini, Bette Midler and Lily Pons still haunts these premises. Its construction began in 1899, and throughout the 20th century it was the scene of numerous scandals. In 1930, bank robber Willie Sutton was arrested while having lunch in the restaurant!
