THE PLAZA HOTEL
Beautiful and luxurious hotel in New York, part of the historic sites, with a huge reception room: The Grand Ballroom.
New York's most beautiful and iconic hotel! The hotel was built in 1907 in the style of a French Renaissance chateau. Along with the Waldorf Astoria, it is the only hotel in New York to be listed as a protected historic landmark. When it first opened, a room cost US$2.50 a night (the equivalent of US$63 today). Today, it costs at least US$600 to sleep in one of the luxurious rooms. Since its inauguration, the hotel has always welcomed the biggest stars visiting New York. The Beatles, for example, stayed here on their first trip to the U.S. in February 1964. It was also at the Plaza, in the immense reception room - The Grand Ballroom - that Truman Capote organized his famous Black & White Ball in honor of Katharine Graham, the editor of The Washington Post. The evening was dubbed by the media The Party of the Century. More anecdotally, it was in this luxurious establishment that Kevin stayed in Mommy, I Missed the Plane Again! As you may recall, the young boy runs into Donald Trump in the lobby... Renovated in 2008, the building's interior design remains faithful to the original, rather pompous and busy design (1,650 crystal chandeliers). So don't hesitate to enter the hotel lobby for a sneak preview. If you can't sleep there, a very New York tradition is to have afternoon tea in the magnificent Palm Court.

Accolé à Central Park, le Plaza Hotel trône majestueusement dans son environnement. On imagine aisément le faste qu'il représente depuis son ouverture.
