This is the largest mausoleum in North America. Inaugurated on April 27, 1897 in front of a million people, it was built in honor of the 18th President of the United States and great commander of the Northern armies during the American Civil War, Ulysses S. The building, which features six gigantic columns at the entrance, a room where the tomb rests, and a dome, cost around US$600,000 and can be visited free of charge today.
Guided tours of the building's architecture and President Grant's life are held every day the building is open, at 11:15am, 1:15pm and 3:15pm.
