50-story, 195-meter-high building in Manhattan, with an Art Deco and Neo-Gothic style, housing the offices of the RCA
This 195-metre skyscraper, built in 1931, is a blend of Art Deco and Neo-Gothic styles in vogue at the time. The 50-storey red brick building is decorated on its roof with lightning bolts, supposed to represent the electricity emitted by radio waves, as the building was designed to house the offices of the Radio Corporation of America (RCA). However, before the skyscraper was finished, RCA was bought out by electricity giant General Electric.
