Museum in an elegant Georgian colonial style mansion with very interesting themed exhibits
Sheltered until 1932 in the mayors' residence, Gracie Mansion, the museum has since been housed in an elegant Georgian colonial-style private mansion. It traces the different phases of the development of New York City, with the basement dedicated to the city's firefighters, with some very beautiful models of old vehicles. The museum - incidentally used as a high school in the Gossip Girl series - also presents some very interesting thematic exhibitions.
