9/11 Museum with a souvenir store displaying portraits of all the victims of the attacks

Opened in the summer of 2014, the 11 September Museum (9/11 Museum or National September 11 Museum) remains above all a place of memory, in homage to the victims of the attacks and the fire brigade. The atmosphere is obviously sadder than in any museum, as the attacks are still very much part of the collective memory. The first rooms of the underground museum are quite surprising, where how ordinary objects hold an extraordinary place. Wallets, letters, clothes, shoes, flags... so many objects finally quite commonplace found in the rubble of the two towers, identified and which testify to the tragedy. For most of these properties, the dark and touching story of their owner is told. More impressive are the partially destroyed fire trucks, fire helmets, and pieces of the carcass of American Airlines planes that crashed. Pieces of the twin towers, too. Some photographs of the attack, and the portraits of all the victims are also on display. Of course, all along the museum, explanations about the tragedy can be read or discovered on video.

At first, the entrance to this museum was only reserved for the families of the victims. Since then, it has remained at the heart of many controversies: the families of the victims of the attacks do not appreciate that the city makes profits - especially with the souvenir shop - around such a dramatic event.

The museum is designed, very well documented and very interesting. If it were not that a museum to visit in New York it would be this Ci.
