TOMPKINS SQUARE PARK
Park organizing a punk concert every year to commemorate the events during the assault of many homeless.
The park, which is no different from any other green space in the city, is primarily of interest for its recent history. In August 1988, the city hall, determined to regain control of this park where many homeless people were squatting, sent a police raid. The result: 44 wounded and images of unheard-of violence. Despite the many complaints from the activists present and beaten during the assault, no police officers were prosecuted. Since then, a punk concert has been held each year in the park to commemorate the events.
