Founded in 1863, this Brooklyn Heights institution is dedicated to preserving the history of this borough of 2.7 million inhabitants. It reopened its doors at the end of 2023 after a three-year renovation. Its collections trace four centuries of Brooklyn's history through writings, photographs and maps. Part of the Brooklyn Public Library, it makes the library's resources available to visitors. The building in which it is housed dates back to 1881.
