NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN
Botanical garden is both a museum of flora and a historical site housing various varieties of flowers, plants and trees
Adjacent to the zoo, this is the most important botanical garden in the United States, thanks in particular to the Enid A.-Haupt Conservatory, a Victorian glass and iron building housing a tropical winter garden, desert plants, a fern forest and a variety of seasonal exhibits. In spring, countless flowers illuminate this urban environment with unusual colors. A fabulous space of calm and greenery, with miles of paths lined with lush plants. This is one of the oldest and largest botanical gardens in the world. Founded in 1891, it covers some 100 hectares. It is both a museum of flora and a historical site. Countless varieties of flowers, plants and trees grow in the park's 27 gardens. A small amusement park, Everett Children's Adventure, has been set up for children, and many activities are organized there during the vacations. Visits to the spectacular Enid A.-Haupt Conservatory and garden can be made on foot, by streetcar or cart. Every summer, temporary art installations are set up for you to discover as you stroll around. In 2021, contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama exhibited her sculptures among the flowers. And every year at Christmastime, the garden is enchantingly decorated for the Holiday Train Show, a small train that travels between the plants and replicas of New York monuments.
