SANCTUARY AND STATUE OF ST. JOSEPH
Basilica with remarkable frescoes and a colossal statue of St. Joseph, located at the gates of Le Puy, to visit Espaly.
Located at the gates of Le Puy, the Basilica of Saint Joseph of Good Hope was completed in 1918. The colossal statue of Saint Joseph, 22.40 m high, was built in 1910. It took four years to complete and in 1961 it was awarded the golden diadem on behalf of Pope John XIII. The basilica is decorated with frescoes, and above the altar with a tapestry representing the life of Joseph. At the foot of the statue, a terrace allows a view on the whole Ponot basin, and on, among others, the organs of Espaly.
