HISTORIC NEIGHBORHOOD

Following Calle Agramonte, from Calle Menéndez, you will discover the Barrio San Juan and the restored colonial neighborhood (pedestrian cobblestone streets, tile roofs and gas streetlights). Among other monuments, the main theater, still in activity, dates from 1839. The bridge, for its part, was built in 1831 over the Yayabo River. With its five arches, it is the only one in Cuba made entirely of stone. The inhabitants of Sanctí Spíritus, will undoubtedly explain to you, not without pride, that the stones are held together by a mixture of sand and goat's milk.
