PICO TURQUINO
Plan on 2 days of intense but steady walking along a superb trail in the heart of the mythical, lush Sierra Maestra. Overnight accommodation is in the Aguada de Joaquín refuge at 1,750 m altitude (sleeping bag not supplied). Just a reminder: as everywhere in the mountains, the weather changes rapidly, and rainfall in the area is frequent. Once you've reached the top of the island, at 1,974 m and often in the clouds, you can enjoy the moment and the panoramic view from the José Martí bust, before heading back down.
