Three daily departures to Havana at 9am, 3:15pm, 10pm. Stops in Bayamo, Holguín, Las Tunas, Camagüey, Ciego de Avila, Sancti Spíritus and Santa Clara. Count 51 CUC for a one-way ticket. Duration: 16 hours during the day and 13 hours at night. Daily service to Trinidad with a departure at 7:30 pm. Count 33 CUC per one-way ticket. Duration: 12 hours. You can also reach Baracoa at 8am for 15 CUC. Plan about 5 hours of travel time.
Havana-Santiago de Cuba trip: particularly long, the trip between Havana and Santiago de Cuba will seem endless to you... Prefer the night bus, which is totally safe and less tiring since you will sleep intermittently (the bus stops about every 2 hours and turns on the neon lights at each stop, which inevitably wakes you up; use the night mask of your outward flight to protect your eyes). Remember to take a fleece and a small blanket as the air conditioning is always on high in the buses, including at night. Also, don't forget your earplugs and a travel cushion to support your head. To eat, bring sandwiches because, outside the stations, the state restaurants where the buses stop are not always recommended for your stomach and late at night the station snacks are empty. However, 16 hours without eating is a long time....
