Birthplace of Antonio Maceo (1845-1896), nicknamed the Bronze Titan, who was one of the greatest military leaders of the wars of independence of 1868 and 1895. He refused to surrender his arms at the end of the Ten Years' War, an episode that has remained famous under the name of Protesta de Baragúa. With a small army equipped with machetes, he extended the war to the whole island before dying in battle near Punta Brava at the end of 1896. The museum traces the life of the hero.
