Founded in 1995, the contemporary African art gallery AKA (AfrikKontempArt) puts the spotlight on Ugandan artists (painters, sculptors), such as Geoffrey Mukasa (1954-2009), Ibrahim Kitimbo, Phillip Wacha, Edison Mugalu or Maria Naita (deceased in 2019), during temporary exhibitions. In this den, handicrafts such as statuettes, jewellery, board games(omweso in particular), fabrics and other items are permanently on sale. The antithesis of the craft villages.
