Entebbe, a town on the tranquil shores of Lake Victoria, is home to the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Managed by the NGO Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust (Chimpanzee Trust), the sanctuary is home to 52 orphaned and rescued chimpanzees. The Chimpanzee Trust is strongly committed to on-the-ground conservation and community education, working closely with the Ugandan government and wildlife authorities. Visitors have the option of taking half-day or full-day excursions, as well as staying overnight at Ngamba Ecolodge, offering an exceptional opportunity to observe these fascinating great apes up close in a unique setting.
