My husband and I recently stayed at Heritage Lodge and fell in love with Lake Bunyonyi. Steven and Dorcas and the rest of the hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is on an island and the hotel manager met us at the mainland to take us on a relaxing boat ride to the hotel. The entire stay was incredibly calm and peaceful - our room had a balcony with gorgeous views of the lake. It can get chilly at night so each night we enjoyed drinking a beer around the warm fire pit. We also enjoyed the boat tour offered around the islands, where we were able to see many wild animals - including a zebra, waterbuck, and many species of birds - and learn about the local culture. Highly recommend staying at Heritage!!
We, 4 women, spend a night here while visiting Lake Bunyonyi in Uganda. The boatride was already so relaxing. What a beautiful lake with so many small islands. Then we were welcomed by the friendly manager Stephen. Our rooms, cottages with a verandah were having 2 double comfortable beds and a spacy bathroom with rainshower. Sitting at your verandah gives you the opportunity to spot the many beautiful birds and you a have great view at the lake. The food was delicious. We enjoyed the campfire in the evening. Lovely Island to walk around. So peacefull if you need a break from your hectic life this is the place to be. Definitely want to return for a longer stay and do some more birdsspotting. Thank you Stephen and staff for the excellent services. Kind regards Irene
The most amazing place on Lake Bunyonyi.
We were greeted by Steve who is the hotel manager. The nicest person you’d ever meet who is highly accommodating and takes all your needs into account. The food was amazing and Dorcas was a lovely host as well. We did some amazing activities like canoeing, climbing adventures, and visiting many islands around the lake.
It’s the best place for when you want to relax and become one with nature. Surrounded by beautiful water and waking up to the sounds of the birds. I cannot recommend it enough!
Thank you for making it a memorable experience. I can’t wait to come back!
This is Paradise Island. Spacious rooms, great food and great staff. The staff were quite flexible with the menu so you can switch things up a bit.
The bar is well stocked too.
A birder's paradise. The bird life here is insane. Scovia will take you on a birding trip on two other islands.
Patrick will take you on a very scenic hike of about 8km total- up and down. The view at the top is to die for.
We stayed here for 2 nights after a really busy couple of days and it was exactly what we needed. You get a boat ride over to the island, our guide wanted to show us punishment island on the way and our driver was very accommodating. When we got there Stephen the manager and his staff were there to greet us and take our bags. They gave us a welcome tea while they checked us in and brought our bags to our guest house for us too. The guest house was lovely! Firm mattresses if you like that (I do!) mosquito nets provided and a wet room with all your necessities. The rooms are really very private and all have a view of the lake which is magical. Stephen and his staff really looked after us, there was a thunderstorm the second night we stayed and they lit a campfire at the main house for us and also provided hot water bottles for us to take back to our beds. They really thought of everything! There's also a nice walk about the island, it takes about 20 minutes at a leisurely pace and there's a swimming deck too which you're free to use. Couldn't recommend Heritage Lodge more to be honest.
