Founded in 2017 by an Australian woman, Yoly Phillips, Karungi Camp is popular with many travellers. Why is it so popular? For the interaction it allows with the inhabitants of Rubuguri, for its team, for its sober, clean, equipped and - compared to the rates charged on the outskirts of the park - inexpensive rooms, for its advantageous location for those who wish to discover the beauty of the region and to engage in gorilla tracking (the starting point for tracking in Rushaga is located 8 km away) and, finally, for the activities it offers.

Meilleur camp d’Ouganda ! Gordon est super sympa et vous mettra à l’aise tout le long de votre séjour. Vous aurez le droit à un feu avec les canapés autour pour vous détendre. Et pour finir on a passé une très bonne nuit ???????? n’hésitez pas une seconde !!

Our stay here definitely was one of the best experiences we had in Uganda! The food was delicious, the rooms very clean and big, the shower was hot and the staff amazing. They helped us in every way possible: when I felt sick, they prepared some ginger tee for me, when we wanted to plan activities they quickly managed to find a very friendly and knowledgeable guide for us, they connected us to local artists that presented and sold their craft, and they led us to the tailor, who made some beautiful dresses for me. Even a comfortable ride to the next accommodation was organized on very short notice. We enjoyed our stay very much, felt welcome and would definitely come back.

Karungi is a really great spot in a small village town. The owners and staff were incredibly helpful before, during and after our trip to Karungi/Bwindi national park. Gordy helped us secure permits to trek with gorillas and we never had to bat an eye. Also, their hot showers are sooo nice after a day of hiking!

Our time at Karungi camp was one of my favorite travel experiences to date. Gordy helped us get a permit the day of our trek (despite them being sold out for months), picked us up from the border, helped us run errands in a new country, and drove us to our next destination. He made our time in Bwindi as good as it could get, and the staff (Jason, eliza, and Kiki) were all wonderful as well. We camped, played futbol with the locals, and couldn’t have asked for a better time in Bwindi. Highly recommend!
