On the edge of the park, this friendly camp is part of a community development association and has the advantage of being very close to the starting point for Gorilla tracking. Ask for the quieter cottages close to the forest. The camping pitches are pleasant, with views over the wall of vegetation formed by the forest. In the same village, the umbrella NGO also owns the more opulent Haven Lodge (+256 788 047 194 / B&B from US$181 to 510/person).

I found this place really convenient for a stay in Buhoma sector. You can not be closer to the Park entrance and eat so well with such a correct price :). It is a Community camp run like à lodge.
The lunch/dining room seats nicely over the trees, the room are in front of the forest, in the calm, which is really enjoyable. On the other hand the staff is kind and helpful, so everything was perfect for me.
Also it is a good place for birders, some people over there knows really well the birds !

There is alot to say about BUHOMA COMMUNITY REST CAMP.
First thing I am really great full for is the service they offer. I met the people are friendly and helpful and kind to their visitors, which is one thing that people look for in such a lodge.
The location is really convenient and the prices are favourable, $50 - $120 which is dependant on your preference.
The rooms are perfect, they have warm water which is a great deal because it is really cold there. They leave warm bottles on the beds so that you don't get into a cold bed in a cold environment.
The food is great, I advise that you select the chef's choice. In a way they know what people like, I don't know how but they do.
Basically speaking, the people, workers and chefs all care about there visitors.
Make sure to get time and pass by.

Buhoma community rest camp is different than the lodge and in our opinion was the best accommodation in the Bwindi area. We stayed for 2 nights to do gorilla tracking. This is the ideal location for Buhoma permits but you can also stay here for Ruhija which is what we did (1.5 hour drive, very scenic). The Buhoma rest camp has a very nice main lodge with amazing service from the staff. The food is very good and we saw baboons and monkeys playing in the trees from the lodge. There is a bar and free coffee/tea. The rooms are large with a large bathroom, the shower had very hot water, nice after a long day of hiking. Beds were comfortable with nice mosquito nets but we didn’t have any mosquitos. It gets chilly at night so they give you bags of hot water for your feet while you sleep, a very nice addition. Our room had a porch with chairs to sit and look at the view of the rainforest. The rest camp is inside the Bwindi gate so you are very close to the starting point for gorilla tracking (less than 5 min walk). Most importantly, it is run by members of the community so your money is well spent. My wife and I are in our late 30’s from America traveling the world. This was one of our favorite stays in 4 months of travel.
