STROLL TO THE TOP OF THE FALLS
Go there and contact
To complete the view of the falls from the boat, you can go to the top of the gorge (on the left bank), where you can gauge their incredible power even more clearly. Here, it's not the lion's roar that makes you shudder, but the roar of the Nile waters rushing through a gap less than ten metres wide! A shower of spray is guaranteed, so remember to bring a plastic bag for your camera. From the main viewpoint, a short path takes about 20 minutes to descend, offering a more sideways view of the falls, which consist of two cataracts separated by a grove. Another path takes you down to the base of the first waterfall. The interest of this hike lies in the panoramic view of Uhuru Falls, invisible from the cruise. Allow 2 hours on site for the walk, preferably in the afternoon - it's much better for the photos and the rainbow! If you feel like it, you can combine a river cruise with a walk to the top of the falls. In this case, your boat will drop you off at the trailhead, where a UWA guide will be waiting. Allow around 45 minutes for a fairly strenuous walk from the riverbank. The top of the Murchison Falls is also accessible from the right bank, which is less busy and more difficult to access, but offers less spectacular views of the gorge. The majestic viewpoint is free of charge. Walking with a ranger: US$20.
