Birdwatchers will appreciate boat trips downstream to Lake Albert, where the chances of spotting the famous Nile shoebill are perhaps the best on the continent, especially in the rainy season. Also endemic species of papyrus. Daily departures are at 7 a.m. from the Wild Frontiers pier in Paraa (on the left bank): US$55 for a 4-5 hour cruise. A magnificent 20 km trip.
