Just over 40 kilometers south of Mbale, the town of Tororo lies in the shadow of Tororo Rock, a neck that is its main tourist attraction. A volcanic prominence, it towers almost 300 metres above the plain, offering magnificent views of the Mount Elgon massif and neighbouring Kenya. The challenging climb to the summit is via a steep path equipped, for some years now, with ladders and steps. Allow around two hours round trip. Although optional, the presence of a guide is recommended (15,000 Ush).
