CHIESA DEL GESÙ
Church built by the Jesuits of Palermo whose presbytery is decorated with putti occupied with various tasks
First church built by the Jesuits of Palermo in the 16th century, damaged in 1943 but well restored. The Latin cross interior, with three naves and eight chapels, is sumptuously baroque. It contrasts with the simplicity of its façade. Among the works: TheMiracle of St. Philip and St. Paul the Hermit by Pietro Novelli. The presbytery is decorated with putti busy with various tasks, works by Serpotta. Next to the church, the Casa Professa, a former convent of the Jesuit fathers, is a municipal library that preserves many manuscripts.
