CHIESA DI SAN FRANCESCO D'ASSISI
The most beautiful gothic church dedicated to Francis of Assisi whose facade is decorated with a superb rose window richly carved
The church dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi of the 13th century is the most beautiful Gothic church in Palermo. In spite of its alterations in the 16th and 19th centuries, it has preserved its façade with a beautiful, richly carved rose window and a precious Gothic portal from the 16th century. On the pillars of the central nave there are allegorical statues by Giacomo Serpotta (1723). In several chapels admire the carved works of Gagini and 18th century sculptures by Ragusa.
