ORATORIO DEL ROSARIO IN SANTA CITA
Oratory built in the seventeenth century, entirely decorated by the incredible stuccos of Giacomo Serpotta
Built in the 17th century, it was entirely decorated with the incredible stuccoes by Giacomo Serpotta between 1686 and 1718. On the walls, a swirling procession of allegorical statues and mischievous cherubs would almost make us forget that we are in a church. The cherubs seem to be crying, sleeping, and even climbing on the ledges! Panels trace the Mysteries of the Rosary. On one side, we can admire the Coronation of Thorns and the Calvary of Christ.
