QUATTRO CANTI
Other name of Vigliena square and heart of the baroque city with rounded facades and statues of the four seasons
This is the other name of Piazza Vigliena, the heart of the Baroque city, at the crossroads of Via Vittorio Emanuele and Via Maqueda. At the four corners: the rounded façades of the buildings are decorated with statues and fountains. The architect Giulio Lasso designed them as a theatre set between 1609 and 1620, where he placed the four patron saints of Palermo, Agatha, Ninfa, Christina and Olivia, surrounded by archangels. At the bottom of the fountains, one can admire the statues of the four seasons on which they are placed. Above the fountains are the statues of the Spanish kings.
