RISERVA NATURALE SALINE DI TRAPANI E PACECO
Nature reserve managed by the NGO WWF making Trapani, a great center of the white gold trade under the Spanish crown
The salt marshes nature reserve, currently managed by the NGO WWF, covers almost 1,000 hectares between Trapani and Paceco. Thanks to this area, Trapani became a major centre for the white gold trade under the Spanish crown in the 15th century. Today, the exploitation of some saltworks is maintained thanks to the Consorzio Sale Natura, as is the renovation of the many windmills on the site. Beautiful landscapes with colour gradations.
