Antiquarium exhibiting numerous pieces found on the site
Despite partial destruction during the Punic Wars of the Roman period, it retains many vestiges of its glorious past as a Greek city. The first observable elements date from the 4th century BC, in particular a beautifully placed amphitheatre with the sea as its natural setting (a pity that a roof spoils the setting), several houses and a surrounding wall. There is also a necropolis. An Antiquarium exhibits many pieces found on the site.

If you go to "Scala dei Turchi", the famous white cliff on the sea near Agrigento (about 15 km), you cannot miss another -less known- white cliff: "Capo Bianco", on top of which there is a beautiful archeological site: Eraclea Minoa (the name seems to come from both Heracles and Minos). The landscape from there is beautiful and the site is full of pathos. A Greek theater and a small but wonderful museum will make your visit unforgettable.
