Garden with an orchard enjoying a mysterious lush vegetation
Kolymbetra's garden offers its visitors a mysterious lush vegetation, once compared to the Garden of Eden. In 480 B.C., the ancient city of Akragas emerged victorious from the battle of Himera against the Carthaginians . The tyrant Teron had an irrigation system dug by the Carthaginian prisoners. The large water basin(Colimbetra) was later transformed into an orchard. Today, a forest of citrus trees spreads out there: orange, lemon, mandarin and citron trees as well as olive, pistachio, fig and almond trees.
