MUSEO ARCHEOLOGICO REGIONALE
This city, which has become very industrial, does not offer the desired interest and there is little trace of its prestigious past. However, for the lovers, its museum is one of the most interesting of Sicily and also one of the most pleasant because of its brightness. In many windows, it exhibits objects from excavations around Gela and in the country of, classified in a chronological and chronological order. The exhibits range from the bronze age to the Middle Ages, passing through the Greco-Roman period.
The museum has, among other things, splendid collections of terracotta figurines and Greek and indigenous vases. You can also admire the coins of a large treasure that was discovered in 1956 in a Greek sanctuary. But it is in the magnificent sculpted head of the th century, at the bottom of the living room, that the virtuosity of the artists of the time is best expressed. It is one of the finest examples of terracotta in the classic period; a real emotional shock for amateurs.
In 2016, presentation of a beautifully preserved and renovated Greek boat.
