CATTEDRALE SAN NICOLO
Cathedral framed by 2 bell towers with a diocesan museum on the second floor.
The 1996 earthquake almost destroyed the dome and caused extensive damage to the interior. But the restoration has restored it to its former glory. Erected in the 18th century and dedicated to San Nicolo de Mira, it has a rich façade consisting of two floors of columns and framed by two bell towers. The imposing bronze portal is by Giuseppe Pirrone and represents episodes from the life of San Corrado, the protector of the town. The recent interior (1950) contains pillars with Corinthian capitals and marble frescoes. Diocesan museum on the first floor.
