GRAND HOTEL ORTIGIA * * * * *
A beautiful 19th century bourgeois building offering rooms, some of which have a terrace with a view of the sea
This handsome 19th-century bourgeois building, at the entrance to the Ortigia peninsula, is a must-see with its Victorian veranda. Note the colorful stained glass windows in a superb period elevator. The rooms, some with terraces and sea views, are unexpected and unique retro cocoons. Other assets include the Terrazza sul Mare gourmet rooftop restaurant, a private beach near Punta del Pero, and parking in the ZTL zone. The hotel has a modest spa with a hammam, sauna and à la carte massages. No swimming pool, however, which is a pity at this level of luxury.
