COLLEGIO DEI GESUITI
Former Jesuit school of the city of Piazza Armerina.
It's the old Jesuit college in the city. Built at the beginning of the 17th century, the building imposes itself to the visitors by its wide and high main door, preceded by some small steps. The interior is marked by high brick columns. It housed a faculty of letters and a college of higher education. The first cycle of studies lasted nine years and the other two lasted six years, the latter included the teaching of theology and medicine. Today, the former college is the municipal library and has 23,000 books.
