ETNA TRASPORTI
Catania-Fontanarossa Vincenzo Bellini airport is located 5.5 km southeast of Catania city center. It can be reached from the A19 freeway to the west, or from the Tangenziale di Catania exit on the E45. The airport is linked to the city by the Alibus urban bus service and can also be reached using AMT public transport. Connections with other Sicilian cities are also possible thanks to public and private extra-urban bus lines. Catania's main street, Via Vittorio Emanuele, divides the city in two, overlooking the Ionian Sea to the east and the Mediterranean Sea to the west. The coastline is characterized by small rocky coves where the crystal-clear blue sea creeps in, and a long sandy beach. Two islets are located opposite the town and form part of the municipality: Capo Passero and Ile des Courants. The island of Capo Passero is connected to the mainland by a strip of sand that is passable at low tide, and can also be reached by canoe, pedalo or small fishing boat, which provides transport to and from the island all day long at set times. Also known as the "cursa re varchi" ("boat race"), this is a rowing boat competition with crews of 4 people, in the magnificent natural setting of Scalo Mandrie.
