The Duomo di Cefalù, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is well worth a visit for its elegant Arab-Norman architecture. Legend has it that Roger II ordered its construction after surviving a shipwreck. The exterior features two towers and a pattern of interlocking arches. Inside, you'll discover a columned nave and wooden roof, as well as magnificent mosaics, including Christ Pantokrator on the main apse.

Funfact: seen from afar, the cathedral's two peaks stand out against the backdrop of the Rocca. Locals call the whole thing "the snail", with the Rocca forming the animal's shell and the cathedral's spires forming its antennae.

Discover an old-fashioned washhouse like you've never seen before! Nestled between buildings, under small arches, the Lavatoio Medievale is a well-preserved vestige of the past. To get there, you climb down a wide lava-stone staircase. Located near Palazzo Martino, Cefalù's medieval washhouse channels the river to the sea via a grotto. Rebuilt in 1514 and restored in 1991, it offers a glimpse of Sicilian medieval life. As unusual as it is fascinating: we love it! Twenty-two cast-iron mouths, including fifteen lion heads, adorn the walls where washerwomen used to wash their clothes. Although the place has become very touristy, it's still a must-see in Cefalù.

In addition to this famous work, the museum exhibits the treasures of the past collected by Baron Piraino di Mandralisca during his lifetime. Thousands of antique books, period vases, masks, pottery and, above all, an impressive malacological (mollusc) collection make this museum a must-see in Cefalù!

The Chiesa della Badiola is another must-see religious building in Cefalù. Dating from 1159, it was built on the orders of Roger II. Originally dedicated to St. George and St. Lawrence, it was converted into an orphanage in the 17th century, and renamed "La Badiola". Tempted? You'll find it on Via Porto Salvo!
