This collection was established thanks to the generosity of an illustrious inhabitant of Cefalù, Baron Piraino di Mandralisca. The library has 6,000 volumes, the museum has a collection of 20,000 shells and coins (from Cefalù and Lipari), masks, vases, incense burners, oil lamps, a vase from the fourth century BC, representing a tuna seller, icons of Venetian and Cretan origin, Byzantine paintings up to the eighteenth century (Ruoppolo, Pietro Novelli), including the fabulous Portrait of a stranger by Antonello da Messina (1465-1470).
