The location is great! Just a block from Frenchman street so it’s away from the noise, but so easy to get to the party! The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. We had a great stay and were so glad we were staying here!
Had a great stay at this bed and breakfast in a large refinished old house. The place is beautiful, Bob and Michelle are wonderful hosts and it's hard to beat the location. Breakfasts were quite yummy -- shrimp and grits and pancakes with pecans and bacon was what was served when we stayed there. Hosts are very communicative and accommodating.
A couple of very minor things for general knowledge: We didn't see an iron in our room; probably could have got one had we asked/really needed it. So, ask if you need one.
A decent number of guestrooms are on the first floor and line a hallway leading to the dining room/common area. If people congregate in that area, you can pretty much hear their conversation in the closer rooms to the dining room. Of course, some people may appreciate this feature. And, we found the place quiet during normal night hours. It's not like this Inn is large enough to attract raucous young crowds for Mardis Gras or the weekends, which is also well-appreciated.
But, we did find complimentary earplugs in our room. We didn't use them (we be city folk ourselves), but for those bothered by either sounds coming from the dining room or Elysian Fields Ave, such an amenity was a nice touch.
Be sure to stick your head in the powder room on the first floor (pictured).
Charmante auberge dans le plus pur style de la Nouvelle Orleans. Très bien situé pour accéder à pied au Vieux carré et particulièrement à FrenchMen street.
Accueil familial , petit déjeuner fait maison avec spécialités et fruits.
A recommander chaleureusement
Beware! This is an unethical business.
I booked a stay for Nov 4, 2023 late in August 2023. They charged my credit card for the downpayment on Aug 28th.
I sent them an email that I decided to cancel my stay on October 9th. Their policy states there is a full refund if you cancel within 14 days of stay. I have been in contact with them numerous times since then for the return of my $409.00 deposit. They have ignored my emails and also claimed they had no cancellation policy! This was a lie as their website has a cancelation policy. They are now accusing me of harassment just because I'm asking them to do the right thing.
We stayed at The Elysian Fields Inn the fourth time last week. It is just the same.....perfect. Wonderful hosts, beautiful inn, comfy beds, terrific location, fabulous breakfasts and a very good value. You will not be disappointed at The Elysian Fields Inn.
We had an excellent stay at Elysian Fields Inn over the New Year's holiday. Michelle and Bob did a fantastic job hosting our group and accommodating our weirdness. The morning breakfasts were delicious and the coffee was always on. Our rooms were spacious, well-appointed, and comfortable, and the whole place was spotless. Highest recommendation.
We had an absolutely amazing experience staying at Elysian Fields Inn. The inn is conveniently located just a couple of blocks from Frenchman Street, renowned as the best place to enjoy live music in the area. The surroundings are remarkably quiet, exceptionally clean, and incredibly comfortable.
The common area is spacious and beautifully decorated, with a welcoming porch and a delightful pool that beckon guests to relax. Both the house and the rooms are tastefully adorned, creating a charming atmosphere.
Our host, Michelle, contributed significantly to our wonderful stay. She not only prepared delicious breakfasts but also provided a wealth of useful information. Michelle was a pleasure to talk to, enhancing the overall enjoyment of our visit. Her restaurant and entertainment suggestions were spot on, and we largely followed them during our outings.
A heartfelt thank you to Michelle and Bob for their outstanding hospitality. Our stay at Elysian Fields Inn was truly memorable, and we appreciate the warmth and care they extended to make our experience exceptional.
I really enjoyed my recent stay at the Maison des Lunes. The room was clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. I enjoyed the authentic and distinct New Orleans feel, both inside and outside. The owners were warm and welcoming, and made sure I had everything I needed to be comfortable for my stay. I would definitely stay again the next time I'm in the city!
In my opinion the only place to stay when you're visiting New Orleans especially if you want that New Orleans "feel". The rooms were beautiful and the location is perfect. Don't even get me started on the owners and how much fun they are and what good hosts. Make sure you check out the metaphysical shop owned by them. Will definitely be returning and recommending.
Love this place! Unique, witchingly charming accommodations within walking distance of the Quarter, and Frenchman St. Convenient, reasonably priced, and the owners are responsive and accommodating. 100/100 would recommend!
Fabulous NOLA experience. We booked the whole inn for a big family birthday celebration. Michelle was wonderful helping us with logistics since we arrived at separate times. The house is spacious and has a great layout. Beds & linens are super comfy. It was a luxury not having to worry about coffee & breakfast in the morning – Michelle & Bob had it all set up for us. The shrimp & grits was a delicious highlight. The French Quarter is a gentle walk away through tree-lined streets. Hanging out on the veranda with an icy cold glass of wine, or playing poker on the refectory table, or cooling off in the pool – the inn hit every mark for a perfect venue. Our family wants to make this an annual trip and of course we would return to the Elysian Fields Inn. Thank you Michelle & Bob.
I've slept in every room and each one is so comfortable and so unique. Also great walking distance to everything in the French Quarter (only a block from Frenchman St!)
We just returned from 2 weeks at Elysian Fields Inn. We stayed in the suite room. This was our third visit to EFI and the first since Michelle and Bob have been the innkeepers. The short answer is “book it.” Here are a few more details. Bob and Michelle have made some terrific improvements to EFI. One is a refreshing pool and patio in back. After a long day of walking around NOLA a cool dip in the pool and a nap in the lounge chairs are essential preparation for a night of food and music on the town. We loved the new long communal table which encourages conversation among the worldwide guests. There are several 2 toppers if you prefer though. For us, the innkeepers make the inn and you can’t ask for any better than Michelle and Bob. They clearly love meeting new people, welcoming visitors to the city they chose, and exceeding all expectations. Their breakfasts are “not” continental, but full breakfasts with fresh fruit every day. In 2 weeks we had only one repeat. They are accommodating, too, for those who may be picky or have food restrictions. EFI is in a safe neighborhood. We walked home from the French Quarter every night. The location is perfect if you want easy access to the Quarter, Frenchman Street or the bustling neighborhoods of Marigny and Bywater. We go to New Orleans every year and typically drive there or use Uber/Lyft around town. This year we purchased an RTA pass and had a great time exploring. We used the street cars, buses and even the RTA ferry over to Algiers. (Check out Barracuda Mexican cafe.) EFI is conveniently located for public transportation and will be even better when they get the Rampart Street car line open again. Enjoy your visit to our favorite U.S. city and rest easy if you decide to stay at Elysian Fields Inn.
We loved the location (close to cafés, jazz clubs and restaurants, and with a supermarket just across the street). Our bedroom was on the smaller size (e.g., it could use a second chair) and the bathroom was definitively vintage. This is not an issue in itself because it was clean, but the showerhead was spraying everywhere and it is problematic if you do not want to wash your hair. Also, it did have an aveda product, but unfortunately it had been partly used by someone else.
The breakfast was good, and the living area is spacious and nice. We understand the back patio cannot be accessible 24/7 because of noise-related issues, but because it closes at 8pm, we could not enjoy it.
For my first trip to New Orleans I wanted homey accommodations and found that and more at Elysian Fields Inn. Upon my arrival, Michelle laid out a map of the French Quarter and ran me through a lay of the land. She even highlighted well-lit walk ways since I was traveling alone. I had the pleasure of meeting her husband Bob the next morning and being his Guinea pig for the delicious breakfast pictured here. Every breakfast at the Inn was delectable and accompanied by lovely conversation with the innkeeper/other guests. The Inn is an 8 minute walk from the street car, even closer to a bus stop, and around the corner from the famous Frenchmen street. I highly recommend a stay at Elysian Fields Inn and will return for my next adventure in NOLA!
Excellent! Excellent experience. Of all the Bed and Breakfasts I've been to, this was, hands down, the best one yet. Michelle was so accommodating. Always there to answer questions and give recommendations of where to go. We LOVED the food (and what a supportive husband to come up and help her cook breakfast each morning-- we enjoyed Bob too!) It was clean. A great space for the 8 family members we had staying there. Close and safe walking distance to all the "things to do and see" in New Orleans (our eldest with us was 84 yrs old). Loved the front porch for "happy hour." We will definitely stay here again and recommend this to ANYONE traveling to New Orleans.
On a recent trip we decided to try a B&B. And Elysian Fields was an awesome choice. Michelle and Bob are wonderful hosts. The room was so quaint and cozy. And the Shrimp & Grits were so yummy.
Great location and within walking distance to everything. We never moved our car. We will definitely be back.
