My wife and I travel regularly. We’re usually in hotels every couple of weeks somewhere fun. Out of all the traveling we do all over the world, the Canopy by Hilton is easily the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had. This may be a great hotel on a normal day, but at the time I’m writing this review the building next door is under construction and massive construction noise starts at 7am if you’re lucky and it runs allllllllll day long. The building in question I’m guessing is about 20 stories tall. They’ve got a metal chute that they’re dumping debris through to the dumpster. It seems like huge chunks of concrete are hitting sections of the metal chute at each floor making a bone rattling amount of racket. It’s constant noise that is impossible to sleep through and makes it impossible to even enjoy being in your room. Management has told us that they’re not supposed to start making noise until 9am, but they seem unwilling to do anything about it. They know this is a problem. They should be documenting it and reporting it to the city. Instead, they’re letting all of their guests have a terrible experience. You can’t get into the elevator with a stranger without the conversation coming up about the awful noise. We’re here with a conference and everyone staying at this hotel is complaining about it. Not that they probably care, but this is certainly our last stay here. We will stay anywhere else in New Orleans to avoid this in the future. I do not recommend staying here.

Great people and rooms and bar area. But, this hotel is located up and off a long block of Canal. If you want French Quarter, get closer. However, if you're doing other things in N.O., great place to stay.
