I have never had a better hotel experience! We just got off the cruise ship and showed up before 9 am. As we were pulling our luggage out of the cab, a lady comes out the front door and says, "you checking in? Colleen (my wife's name)? Don't you worry, your room is clean, we can get you checked right in." She then proceeded to take us directly to our room and CARRY one of our heavy suitcases up the stairs (no elevators). She got our room key, gave us the lowdown, and recommended a delicious breakfast spot. To say the least, this was a welcome relief as we were exhausted and had no idea what were going to do until check in. As it was, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and then took a well-deserved mid-morning nap! Thank you so much, Newsline! You are the best!
My husband and I stayed at the Historic Streetcar Inn overnight at the end of December 2022. The front desk staff was rude and unprofessional. While parking in front of the inn to check in, she pulled in behind us and started honking. She had room to park behind us, but wanted us to pull closer to the car in front of us so that she could park closer to the door. We were trying to leave space to get out. She was supposed to be there at 7:00 a.m. the next morning and wasn’t. We don’t plan on staying there again.
I kinda liked it, but, I like "down at heel" hotels.. Of which, it completely was..
The room was clean and dry, and no-one was in my face all the time. Coulda done with a fridge...
During the hurricane, the halls got a bit flooded. "Character"?!
The week before, I'd been in the 4 Seasons, in Atlanta.
They didn't have in-room coffee, even.. Nor a trouser press, which in "the world" is table-stakes for 4 star hotels.. Bit primitive, backwards..
