The famous green streetcar that Tennessee Williams named Desire travels down St. Charles Avenue, making a long loop from Canal Street to Carrollton Avenue. Its route under the oaks serves Loyola and Tulane universities and Audubon Park. In service since 1835, it is the oldest continuously operating streetcar in the world. It is a must for any tourist visiting the city.
