Jean Daniel Kolly, a German financial advisor and investor in the Compagnie des Indes, opened this town house shortly after the creation of New Orleans in 1718. He praised this simple abode to the ursulines sisters. They will make their first convent and stayed there until July 1734. The building was then used as a charity hospital.
