PEDESCLAUX-LEMONNIER HOUSE
Three-story building considered the first skyscraper in the city of New Orleans.
With its three floors (the fourth was added in 1876), this building, built in 1811, is considered the first "skyscraper" in the city. Look at the wrought iron on the balconies and spot the initials YLM for Yves LeMonnier. Dr. Yves LeMonnier was the first owner. In 1860, Antoine Alciatoire prepared succulent meals here. He later opened a renowned restaurant in the same location, Antoine's Restaurant, which still exists and is run by his descendants.
