Imposing brick building hosting on the lawn several festivals with the most famous traditional jazz musicians.

The Mint, this imposing red brick building, was built in 1835 by William Strickland to break the power of the Eastern bankers. It was used as a mint until 1908. Today, it houses the Louisiana Historical Center and a library that houses the state's colonial archives, as well as the New Orleans Jazz Club Collection tracing the history of jazz in the city. The lawn around the building hosts several festivals including the Satchmo Summerfest (early August) which brings together the most famous traditional jazz musicians.

Derrière le french Market et à côté des restes du Fort Saint Charles, on trouve un immense bâtiment détonnant totalement d'un point de vue architectural. On y trouve l'intéressant New Orleans Jazz Museum. Des événements culturels ponctuels y sont organisés.
